If you want to keep the solenoid, think about what is is really going on here.
To me the black wire on the LH post goes to the starter solenoid, so which wire is the start signal wire, and then what are the other two for?

Ford Solenoid:
A: Battery
B: Switched battery current when starting
S: Ignition switch 'start' position
I: 12V current for coil for starting (full voltage instead of reduced voltage normally supplied when ballast resistor is used)
