I'd sort of hoped that after the magnificent Maroons' stirring victory last Wednesday over the hapless and hopeless Blues there may have been some kind of civic celebration for their eleventh win in twelve years. But no -- the Queensland South players returned to the Storm and the Queensland North guys went back to the Cowboys and Caxton St settled down once again. JT departed with a well deserved tribute for his outstanding services to Origin over the last decade and Cameron Smith received due recognition for the master player he is. It was all over. Another year. Another win..... a special win with the ushering in of the next Maroons dynasty.
It's probably best that we reserve our energies for a repeat party, complete with Cobras, for when our man the Hornet beats Manny Pacquiao convincingly AGAIN in November. Pity the fight will be held in Melbourne where they need to have roofed stadiums because of the weather but at least it will give the southerners the chance to see a champion Queenslander Jeff Horn in action against one of the sport's legends. The fight might be down there but the P A R T Y will be up here.
Now if the Broncos can just win the flag and we can punt our bonehead state government out of the park at the same time, the carousing will know no bounds.
