The rivets are real
it's a nervous job for sure
I use a aluminum shank rivet and a tool I made on the back side of the hood panel so the rivet won't pull the hood skin down.
My help (son) holds the tool on the back side of hood while I pop the rivets.
I also pull up on the rivet gun as I do this so it puts minimum pressure on the paint surface.
Seems to work well for me thus far
