However, I do agree that the 3.73 rear end in that SPF is WAY too short (especially with pizza slicer tires) - 3.27's (or even 3.08's) would have been IDEAL with the 4-speed for that car.
Agreed! It would probably cheaper to replace the rear gears than the trans, and if the top loader is the more common wide ratio variety, it would still take off smoothly in 1st gear.
