Hi Manx69, and welcome to Club Cobra.
So the body on your Spring/Sebring is loosely based on a Healey 3000, I'm assuming, and not a Cobra? What form does the chassis take? As far as determining what you have, when you have several more posts, you will be able to post some pictures of the body and chassis and some of us may be able to help you out. As Tom said, ask plenty of questions on this forum and "we are here to help."
