Should the FE dipstick stick go into the shoulder on the guide tube?
Hi
I am putting my stock guide tube and dipstick back on the block. I waited until my headers were coated and back on the engine.
I have pushed it in somewhat now. It seems to have a 1/4 to a 3/8 " of travel still if it had to go all the way in until it's seated on the tube shoulder. However if you went by the guide tube tab that's meant to bolt on to the lower header bolt, it seems lined up now.
I want to use a sealer on the tube and then drive it in finally...if it goes lower yet and does not line up on the header bolt then I guess I won't be attaching it with the header bolt.
* The only difference I can see is that there are now edelbrock aluminum heads used where as there were stock cast heads before.
If the tube is too high, the dipstick will read in error( falsely less), as the guide tube is not where it should be seated.
Thanks
Tim
