A side oiler will have a pipe plug in the front of the block. It is above the oil pan and outside the timing cover on the driver side. This plug covers the hole where the oil galley along the side of the block was drilled. If you have this plug, it is a side oiler. If you don’t, it is either a center oiler or top oiler.
