A good tig welder can make them look nice. The slimlines from Summit are very popular - available in SS that looks "almost" polished.

Mine has a slip joint just inside the fender where the four pipes join four pipes coming off the head. It looked like it might possibly be a universal fit with the portion going from there to the heas being engine specific. In looking at the side pipes on various cars they look pretty similar.
