Hi Bill,
You need to disconnect the throttle linkage from side to side, the only linkage left on during syncing is front to back. You will have to adjust the throttle linkage links to the center shaft after the syncing has been completed. There should be throttle stop screws at the back of each sides rear carb, if there somewhere else put them there. Adjust the rear two carbs so that they match each other then proceed to the front two carbs and match them to the rear carbs. Now adjust your throttle linkage so that it does not change any of the sync settings. Don’t forget to set each cylinders fuel mixture afterwards, as the volume of air being delivered can change the mixture ratio.
