Unfortunately looking at any race car now is not like looking at it day one, day two, or at any point in their racing days.
Racers tended to get bashed, rebuilt, and modified in some way for just about every race or every few races.
I have noticed how some famous cars have morphed over the years as each 'restoration' brings in a new interpretation of 'original'.
Ultra detailed owner/restorers usually pick a single race to 'restore' to and not the more common many different builds combined into one that never existed that way. (Example: Features from 1970 rules in a car restored to be as 1964 version. Or parts not around in 1964 used and called 1964 correct.)
