Nope, that's against the rules. You have to diagnose the problem through purely non-invasive methods. Just like figuring out what's wrong with your valve train but without removing the valve covers. It's way more fun that way and you're less likely to have a spider gear or broken tip of a stub axle fall out on your toe.
