The R1820 had a displacement of 1823 cubic inches. Bore of 6.125” and stroke of 6.875” (9 cylinders). So about 3.78 times the displacement of my 482. Valve area is 1.85 x that of my FE valves. I don’t know the valve lift but I doubt it is more than 2x the FE and the duration is probably less. So in very rough terms of breathing the valves actually seem a little undersize esp considering peak power was made at 2000 rpm. However these engines had supercharging so quite a bit higher intake charge density. 1000 hp at 2000 rpm.

Only the exhaust valves were sodium filled.
