Default I gave away my dang air cleaner.

Well, I did something stupid last year.

I sold a truck project. It was setup with twin turbos, but the buyer didn't want the turbo setup so we worked out a price with a deposit, and removal of all of the turbo stuff.

One of the turbo parts was the blow through carb. I replace the carb with a carb that I had laying around.

Well, it took waaaaay longer to remove all of the turbo parts than I thought it would. So I swapped the carb on the last day, and never got to start the engine.

The day the buyer was due, I went to tune the carb, and got tons of problems. I was running out of time so I pulled the carb off of my Cobra, and put it on the truck. Well, the normal sized air cleaner wouldn't fit, so I ended up using the air cleaner off the of the Cobra.

I told the buyer I needed to get the air cleaner back before he left with the truck, but we both forgot.

Anyway, I just finished rebuilding a new Quick Fuel 750 dp carb for the 428FE in the Cobra, and got it all installed today.

I tried a conventional air cleaner today [ie 14" dia], and the hood won't close so I measured my turkey pan, and figured a 9" air cleaner would fit. I ordered a cheap "Proform" air cleaner off Ebay for only $25. Still sucks to forget something so stupid.

Lessons learned. Get a bigger deposit next time I agree to something like this, and even though I might be worn out, make SURE everything is good to go BEFORE the day of the sale.

Here is a pic of the old air cleaner setup [I have the turkey pan]
