I'd really like to see some pictures or have more conversation before you spend too much time and effort. The Morris cowl induction scoop is more than wide enough to accommodate any thing I may want to use from underneath.. The actual hole in the hood underneath would be based on the actual air cleaner being used. I have two of the old school oval dual four air cleaners in my shed. My car has two Holley 4150 four barrel carbs on a tunnel wedge intake manifold. I have so much in this system I don't see that ever changing, but the air cleaner situation can't change without the hood and scoop changes. The Two S&H air cleaners I'm using are 8 1/2" across. The perforated steel rings are trimmed down in height tapering down to their outside edges ) to just fit under the hood surface. I see the now even smaller foam filters as restrictive this is where the need for a different hood scoop and air cleaner comes from
