You will be miles ahead if you do not use the FRPP controls package. Use an aftermarket package like a MegaSquirt unit that is offered by DIYAutoTune <= clickable. It has a fully programmable fueling model, supports Alpha-N, Speed Density or Mass Air fueling models. The Mass Air model will work with the OEM MAF and associated hardware.

The ECU comes with a lifetime warranty and can be had as either a build your own wiring harness version or a use an OEM Ford harness version if you go with their PnP version. The OEM harness will need to have a pair of wires added for each of the TiVCT sensors although the control logic is already in the ECU. If you choose to lock out the OEM TiVCT controls then you can forget about the sensor wires.

Aside from the programability, the many built in engine fail safes, the knock detection and correction logic and the comprehensive nature of the tuning s/w, you get away from the lock to a vehicle's VIN code problems that the OEM controls package brings to the table.

BTW it is easy on the budget also.
