No, I go by the
oil analysis, which I do yearly. If the
oil is not acidic, abrasive, or contaminated then there is absolutely, positively no reason to change it. But, if you ask somebody
"tell me why you are changing your oil every year," and the reason they give is
"because it might have blah, blah, blah in it." If you ask them,
"why don't you just test for blah, blah, blah and track it?" They invariably respond with
"because it makes me feel better to just blindly change it and not to tax my pea brain with any facts."
EDIT -- Let me add a caveat to that. I do change the oil before the ZDDP could be consumed, having a SFT, because the oil analysis does not tell you whether the ZDDP has been used up, it just tells you the values for
zinc and phosphorous, which don't change as the oil ages.
