Welcome to the madness! Take your time and do your homework. You will likely change your mind over the time you are looking, as you discover new ideas and see new things. It seems the color is the hardest part!
Try to narrow down what you want, based on your capabilities. Visit owners and ride in cars. There are differences. If you don't care about a big block, consider the small block cars where the engine is correct for the body and you can save some money.
It's a great project for the family. There is a Unique owner who has built 6 cars with his kids! It has been a great hobby for them.
