I am unfamiliar with FIA fuel tank geometry.
Basically, in-tank pumps are the more desirable approach. The pump inlet(s) must always be submerged in fuel or the engine will stumble. Some smartly designed baffling around the fuel pickup, like we do on
oil pump pickups, should take care of that for you.
If the tank geometry is tall and thin then you will necessarily end up building and installing some sort of in-tank mounting brackets to secure the fuel pump(s). If it is flat and wide you might want to look into the fuel hat approach that bolts to an OEM-style flange on the top of the tank.
