Well, would I admit to being that goofball who has never won a BaT auction?
It is a bit of a strange looking car, but kind of neat anyway.
I did find a couple of somewhat recent JBL auctions though:
$37,400 on 6/24/20 :

Keep in mind both of the above are the apparently more desirable Competition models with the advanced suspension that JBL is known for.
The BaT auction was for a Touring model that does not have the advanced suspension. So one might think a Touring model will go cheaper than a Competition model.
So was $46K unreasonable?
Well for the seller, it probably depends on what he paid for the car less than a year ago, plus a new set of tires and plus the $12K for paint. He probably set the reserve to get his money back.
