When you remove the five dash screws you can tilt the dash back towards you and do a lot of work behind it by coming down from the top. I've changed out gauges that way without having to disconnect anything else. If you want to pull the dash completely, you're going to have to remove the steering column, any tight wiring connections to the gauges, ignition switch, other switches, etc., disconnect the vent cables, the water and temperature mechanical lines, the oil pressure line and however your glove box is fabbed in there.
