Question Don Scott and others who might know

Don,
I just got the 393w back together last Friday afternoon before the fling, but now have a few questions. I'm getting some oil on the front of the motor, and it appears to be coming out of my breather. (There's even a little oil on the under side of the hood just above the breather) I have a pcv valve and line running from the right valve cover to the carb. Everything worked fine on my old 351w but now I have this problem. Do you suppose that the pcv valve has just happened to go bad at this time or should I maybe ditch it in favor of an additional breather for the right side.
Also, I removed the vacume advance on my Duraspark II and set timing to 34 degrees total. It didn't appear to have much mechanical advance. I also rejetted my Edelbrock 750 cfm carb back to std. The engine is now running so hot that it is burning the jet hot coating on the headers. The hot spots feel like sandpaper now. The water temp doesn't go over 200-205 degrees but I can tell the exhaust temp is way up. I need someone to point me in a direction.

Thanks,

Jim Downard
