I have not tried to fit them yet, but my CR1 came with rear inner fender liners. That should protect both the latch and the body from road debris.

My car goes (finally) to the body shop next week. He has a lift and we will test fit the liners at that time. I figure I will cut an access hole and add a removable cover for access.
