THE 427 Cobra was a left over hot rodders dream. They were done with the Daytona Coup cars, which was a down on the ground race car. They had discovered that the object was to cut the air from under the car and keep it in top of the car, Down on the ground , no pot holes or speed bumps. the 427 car was a bench racer "what if". Shelby was having bodies and engines delivered and had to make a sellable street car The hood Scoop didn't really work . The scoop was too far back and missed capturing any forced air. It was found that there was more air coming out of the scoop than went in. The side vents were supposed to take care of the over pressured ais under the hood, it doesn't work. At 150 MPH the cars gets lite in the front end.
