That was not at all considerate of them.
It does pay - when you're building your own car - to think "what if I need to access this later", and be considerate to yourself (and/or to the car's next owner as well).
The less potential for cursing, the better. That said, you can't
always predict what might need attention sometime later, and make allowances for it.
