I'd like to see more pictures please. The dark line inside the edge is a Sharpy tracing the filter element, I'm guessing? Did you form any ridge or bead to keep element in place? Why is the plates perimeter, front or back, not the same?
It is a given that any air filter that I will be using is going to be higher than what I'm running now. Coming upwards, through the hood line is my plan. When I do it, I intend on getting a cowl induction scoop to give the air cleaner filter and ignition distributer a sheltered area. Not buying a cast lower oval plate will save a little and lower the air cleaner about a 1/4" to start with.
