Use Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) instead of Teflon. UHMWPE is a very tough and slippery material that can be had in a variety of shapes from round bar to square bar and also sheet.
From Wikipedia:
"UHMWPE has extremely long chains, with a molecular mass usually between 3.5 and 7.5 million amu. The longer chain serves to transfer load more effectively to the polymer backbone by strengthening intermolecular interactions. This results in a very tough material, with the highest impact strength of any thermoplastic presently made."
This translates into a much better, slipperier, and longer-lasting door striker replacement. UHMWPE material is available through industrial distribution. It can be machined relatively easily with a sharp, high-speed steel cutter or drill bit.
