Considering 'they' have been using radar-enabled stationary cameras to provide us with speeding tickets for years, this sort of assault should not be surprising. It was both predictable and most likely inevitable.
The good news, if there is any, is unlike radar-enabled cameras that are placed in suspected speeding locations, it is difficult, if not impossible, to characterize high probable, high noise locations.
This presents a deployment problem for those who would want to cite us for excessive noise. Having said that, it is also worth remembering that our cars are more pleasant to drive on the highway when that exhaust exit, which is only around 24 inches from our ears, is quieter rather than louder — even when you wear earplugs.
