We've done that in the past to no avail. If this were a business, and not just a
"when I get around to it hobby," you would ask your Head of IT
"what is your plan to fix this problem, what will it cost, and when will you do it?" Until you at least get a straight forward and cogent response to that simple and basic question, blindly throwing money with the hope that magic fairies will catch the money and fix the problem is simply a fool's errand. If the true answer is
"look guys, I don't have to time to fuc* with this stuff right now, maybe ever, but I'll put a little time in on it, occasionally, but that's it. If that doesn't suit you, then sorry but tough shi*" -- then he ought to just say that and a lot of us will politely STFU and accept it for what it is.
