Looking at a US Superformance MkIII that came into Australia many years ago now and was registered as a 65 vehicle due to the fact it was registered in the US as a 65.
I know there were a number of such vehicles that came into Oz in the late 90's and early 2000's

With the now much stricter import and registration laws in Australia are these cars registration protected by the 'Grandfather Rule'
