Thanks guys, I got it.
I had to remove the fuel neck and there were two nuts from the bottom that held the battery box and battery in place.
Then it rolled inward in the trunk.
I don't see any way this one could have come out through the wheelwell. It was a pain, but now I know what it wants, it's just fat man/small trunk compaining
Ironically, the car has all kinds of big dollar parts, but had about the cheapest Walmart battery, completely dead and undersized. Will need to look at other options.
I am thinking an AGM, in the same battery box, but maybe executed a little more neatly.
