What you'll find is that 98% of the time the problem is: 1) Dirt; 2) Leaks; 3) The primary butterfly being outside the transfer slot; 4) Clogged Air Bleeds; 4) Accelerator Pump out of adjustment; 5) Secondaries out of adjustment or incorrect spring in a vacuum secondary.
In college I used to charge ten to twenty bucks to clean and adjust your carb. All I did was squirt carb cleaner down the air bleeds, lubricate the linkage with WD40 and then adjust the fuel/air mixture screws and check to make sure the choke worked. That generally resulted in
"wow, the car has never run this well before" type reviews.
