I would forgo the offset dowels myself, and buy a new true roller timing chain with advanced and retarded keyways. Always degree your cam, never just put it in "heads up" sometimes even good cam grinders have it a couple of degrees off. I got a bunch of cams last year that were all 6 degrees retarded. Wouldn't have found that and I would have wondered where all the horsepower went.
