What may also be important is what you plan on doing with this motor that you eventually build.

Street? Strip? Roadrace?

Carb? EFI?

The Tom Monroe book I mentioned earlier is a good repair and replace book. Detailed on how to teardown and rebuild an engine. It even has a chapter on how to remove an engine from a vehicle.
