I have run the TD's, and their non-DOT cousins Vintage tires for years. The vintage are sized like a race tire (25.5x10x15 etc.) Why the difference in DOT rating, I don't know. Same compounds, same tread look, nobody ever seems to notice or care.

I have found that 28-30# hot works pretty well for me. Adjust as the car requires for different track temps etc. Even 1/2 # difference will make a noticeable change. I like to get about 1/16" toe out, takes the "slack" out, tightening response at turn-in. With a low caster set-up, and middleing camber, it gets a little jumpy on grooved pavement, but runs like an arrow at speed.
