The new shifter is advertised to shorten the throw of the shift, but I'm keeping the longer, original shifter for looks so I'm not sure how much the throw will be reduced.

The "throw" is shorter at the shifter base. I installed mine with the "stock" handle. The throw is shorter than the Tremec shifter base. Notice how much further the shifter ball is away from the carpet in 1st, 3rd & 5th?
