Any cast crank will have casting lines, most noticeable in the counterweights. They are raised relief lines where the cast mold is put together, like the lines that run down the sides of a connecting rod. Steel is more dense than iron, so it will have much tighter pores. A forged crank will have NO cast lines, because it was never cast!
