427,
Believe me, there are no excuses and no whining. As is well known, I whined and nearly backed out of my first track event, but now that I've got a taste for it, I'm hooked. I'm doing everything I can to make sure I get to travel with the Cobra next year. Like I said, I've already got permission to use my father-in-laws new Chevy 2500 pickup, and I'll either borrow or rent a trailer.

I've considered the plan you outlined. But two problems. Not excuses, just reality. First, the wife would be very unhappy with some beater tow vehicle in the driveway. And a very unhappy wife is a bad thing. Second, that's at least a $3000 outlay, which I just don't have. Along those lines, I'm probably only going to be able to afford 4 or 5 open track events next season anyway, of which 3 or 4 will be at Pocono (which I drive to). So, at this point, it wouldn't make sense for me to buy that stuff for just one or two travel days. Maybe in a few years that will change.

But for now, I'll be happy with what I have, and am very much looking forward to running at VIR or the Glen next year, no matter how I get there. Or maybe Lime Rock. I'll be looking for input of Club Cranky on which track is a good next step from Pocono. Maybe next year I can talk some of the Club into coming to a lowly autox with me.

Steve

No, it ain't "real", but it's real fast....

Some people choose to rattle their windows with stereos and speakers... I choose to rattle windows with my right foot.
