I don't have an exact answer for you but I might have some information that might help. My B & B has a ford 8.8 rear with weld wheels - 5.5 inches of backspacing, 8 inches wide. I currently have 275/60/15 tires installed. The tires just stick out a little beyond the wheel well and it looks great. If you don't get the rear shortened (if it is even possible) you would need to go greater than 5.5 inches of backspacing. You might want to measure the width of an 8.8 rear and compare it to your rear to see how much wider it really is. For example, if your rear is an inch longer than an 8.8 you can make that up by getting a 7inch rim instead of an 8inch. Then you at least have a true number to compare some of the specs I gave you to your rear. You can play with wheel width, tire size etc. to get the results you need. If your rear were much wider than an 8.8 I would think you would need to get it shortened.

Another thing to keep in mind if you have more backspacing in the rear than you do in the front it may look funny. The width of the wheel also has something to do with it as well.

Trust me you can spend a lot of money buying new rims and different size tires until you get it right.
