The Lucas OEM setup although odd by U.S. standards, isn't that big of a deal to install, and they work quite well.

I do drive car in rain, have wipers and washers installed, and with 17" Z tires, the car drives amazingly well in the rain. Not at all the hocky puck I expected. Soft top and sidecurtains keep car surprisingly dry.

Now, if you don't plan on driving in the rain, don't have surprise showers that come up, or live in someplace where it just never rains, it's kinda silly to put them in. Street Rod shops carry the style mentioned above that clamp onto windshield frame. Then take them off and put them in your "DMV Inspection box" for next year.
