Dear Mr. A Snake:
I must humbly disagree with the second part of your statement. My 427 side oiler was stroked to 484 by the illustrious Mr. Parham at Southern Automotive and he says the engine is good to 7000 rpm. I have seen 6500 numerous times without any problems (my MSD 7AL ignition has a 6600 rpm rev limiter chip). It's primarily a matter of proper rotational balance and adequate valve springs. However, I heartily agree with the first part; it does supply gobs of low end torque.
