Fooling around with a complete engine isn't all that easy. If you are going to have to play with this quite a bit, I suggest that you get hold of a scrap engine block and use it to do all of your trial fitting. I bolted the bell housing to a scrap engine block and put that in the car. I then bolted the tranny to it to make sure that everything fit correctly. You could even put heads on if you wanted.

I found that this worked very well.
