Everything could use a ford starter solenoid, even my chevy has one. You can wire the high torque starters the same way, the solenoid on the starter becomes redundant, all switching activity of a high current nature occurring at the firewall solenoid. That way you can avoid having a live battery cable running down there by your headers (kinda tight fit on my chevelle).
