Just found this thread.
Happy to see such a reasonable attitude towards number of gears.
I do think the 5-speed will be excessive.
My personable opinion only, but I think you should have gone with a top-loader (originality factor) with a GearVendors Overdrive unit attached. This would have given you an overdrive, kept the transmission choice 'original' in keeping with the car, and given you an 8 speed transimission (and how many here have that?).

Glad to see you agree with me that the replicas are indeed different than the originals. Whether you say 'better quality' or I say 'that's the way it actually was', doesn't matter, what matters is that they are demonstrably(sp?) and noticeably different. Works for me.

What is your CSX2xxx number?
