1969 MGC was a sleeper for me because not that many C's were imported. I owned it in 1976, managed to acquire a racing manifold with the triple webers.

Most people thought it was a B car, didn’t notice the radiator or sidedraft bulge.

I stood with a 1976 brand new 911S in the first three gears running 90mph between stoplights, twice in a row. Did he have a look on his face? Z car’s, Porches, Datsun 2000’s all fell to the 3liter engine. I did run copter fuel in it when a buddy at the airport had a little to spare. The only race I really lost was to a Chevy Vega, the bum had swapped in a 327 and a narrowed posi rearend, left me in the middle of the road with my pants down. The brakes, well I kept a boat anchor handy never knew when the power brake booster would not do its job.

Even with a relative getting me parts at wholesale the car ate me out of house and home, I sold it because I got tired of feeding it.

Regards

Gary
