hey, the generosity of the Kirkham's is admirable..and its their donated football and their rules in my book. In that regard, the following was just posted by Tom Kirkham on another thread on CC which is certainly understandable, and explainable . Nothing wrong with an engineless 289 bodystyle in my book , still an OUTSTANDING gesture to the cause . PLEASE NOTE THAT HE IS SOLICITING DONATED PARTS FOR THE CAR AS THEY DID FOR THEIR 9-11 FUND RAISER CAR !! Unfortunately there seems to be several threads on CC re the Kirkham car and it must be difficult for the Kirkhams to follow them all and thus spread the word re 'donations welcome' . Tom's posted message from the other thread follows:
Dear Club Cobra Members,
This year to help with Spring Fling III, David and I, have decided to donate one of our cars to help raise money for Jenny (Cystic Fibrosis). We really appreciate Turk jumping on the bandwagon with all his enthusiasm by posting a picture of ST’s big bad 427 but since CF attacks and kills the small ones in our lives, we think it would be more appropriate if we donated a small block car. So many Club Cobra members don't know that we make a 289 car, that David and I figured that this is good time to show our 289 “cut back door” car.
Like the NYC 9-11 car, we want to make the SF III donation a Club Cobra event that everyone will be proud to be a part of. To get everyone involved we are asking that the Club Cobra members donate parts to this car. Since we are not a charity, donations by individuals to us are not tax deductible.
Because of Federal Law, we cannot provide an engine or transmission. Fortunately, a small block Ford is a relatively inexpensive engine for the lucky new owner to buy.
We will keep you posted of the progress of the car.
Thank you for you help and enthusiasm
Tom Kirkham
