I'm just finishing up the same job. Your needs may be determined by how you set your lines up. I did mine a little different by running from the
oil pump to the
oil cooler and then to the filter adapter and back to the engine. The reason I chose this route is because I saw several comments about junk in the cooler trashing the engine's bearings by using the opposite routing scheme, that is filter to cooler. My 427SO is also from Southern and I used two straight adapters, 1/2" NPT X -AN10 for the adapter plate.
