I insured mine on my regular policy and the agent had no problem with it being a Cobra. He thought it was neat and lobbied for a ride in it! In my case, I was restricted to 5,000 miles per year which was no big deal. For me 2,500 to 3,000 was tops anyway.

Unless I'm mistaken, Grundy does NOT provide liability coverage. Only comp and collision or theft. If this is correct, you still have to somehow get liability coverage on the car.

Let's face it. If anyone piles up one of these toys seriously, his heirs will have to deal with it.

All of us have a little jackass in them that can come out and make us do really stupid things behind the wheel. That's the part of our personalities that made us Cobra owners in the first place. We can only hope we and/or others won't bite the big one doing it. That's what the insurance companies already know about us before we walk in their doors. The numbers don't lie.....we do......to ourselves..... about our driving intentions.

I'm a perfect example. Even in the family flivver, I get POed at tailgaters and am not a bit bashful about giving the SOB's a good shot of the brakes to back them off. Some think it's funny and get even closer. Those are the horse's arses that get you hot under the collar and encourage dumb driving if you let them. In a Cobra? Not if you value your life and your car....not to mention the tickets.

Alpha personalities own Cobras and other high profile super cars. More often than not, the common sense and driving skills don't match up well with the car's potential for disaster......hence insurance troubles. We just have to live with it and encourage other owners to quit taking chances. If that would happen (not likely IMHO) the rates would eventually drop.
