Turk,
If the car was one of the final 6 completion cars, it is not a CSX4000. It was built as a complete automobile, with drivetrain installed and was one of the cars that Ol' Shel tried to pass off as 1966 vintage parts that just happened to be assembled in the 1990s. As a recently manufactured car, it does not qualify under SB100 and does not meet the definition of kit or specialty car. Registration in California would be accomplished only after the vehicle met all applicable new car standards.
Ron61,
During the middle of Shelby's continuation car saga, The Los Angeles Times published an article about Carroll's claim of finding a stash of 1966 Cobra parts, including chassis. Evidently, it turned out that CS's "original" chassis were of recent manufacture and created by famed Cobra restorer Mike McClusky.
Additionally, Carroll claimed that he had registered the missing serial numbers with the State of California and had titles for the all original yet unassembled Cobras. He jes' couldn't find the paperwork!
I have a copy of the letter from Brian Angliss (AC cars) to CS wherein Mr. Angliss states unequivocally that AC Cars only sold completed cars (less drivetrain) to Shelby.
A lawsuit resulted in a settlement wherein CS admitted that his continuation cars were of recent manufacture.
This 1966 parts mythology cointinues despite the fact that Shelby hisownself signed a statement to the contrary!!!
I'll see if I can dig up the documents and post them before Evan jumps in.
