You have a 351-W block cast in 1974 peroid......The water pump outlet means nothing...I have an aluminum water pump from a 1965 289 Mustang on my 351-W.Been on there since 1996 and has been working just fine. The outlet is on the opposite side as the 351-W,water pumps from as early as 65 will fit or interchange on all 289's,302's,&351-W's....

A lot of small block parts will interchange and most "parts guys" don't have a clue what will and won't work... While junk yard hunting I have seen at least three times,a 302 with one original head and the other from an early 351-W.Car runs fine,how I have no idea,these two heads have different combustion chamber size as well as valve sizes...I guess the poor guy got what he could afford to keep his old car going....
