...Hey, I don't want to highjack this thread but as I have this bad habit of sleeping at night I was off this turkey for a while.
CS was quoted as saying "that the Series 1 had to meet the same standards as General Motors"- NOT TRUE!!! SAI asked for and recieved temporary exemptions for the Series 1 cars i.e. NO passive restraints (air bags) for a fixed period. As that period has now expired I fail to understand how they continue production and sales. I have searched the NHTSA database and have found no information as to an extentsion of the exemption. Perhaps I have missed it but the point is they asked for a "pass" and recieved it, so don't claim to meet "the same standards as GM" 'taint so McGee.
BTW, remember when they said all Series 1 cars "had to be built as 1999 models due to our exemption" four years later are they still building 1999 cars? OH, wait, thats right, you can build and "old" model year if the parts have been laying around!
